Violet Smoky Eyes: Too Faced Then and Now Eyeshadow Palette Live Swatches and Tutorial
#TooFaced was one of the brands in the late #90s and early 2000s changing the face of #eyeshadows and color cosmetics in general. So as a collector and long-time user, the Then and Now palette just did something for me.
It’s easy to judge the palette with today’s expectations and say there are too few mattes, too many #glitter shades, and things don’t swatch well with brushes. But remember this isn’t meant to be a cohesive all-in-one palette. It’s half retro, half modern.
Back in the day many of us were applying shadows with our fingers, and nobody was bothering with “matte transition shades”. They did stay very true to the times by adding in a few in the 2018 row.
And that’s what it is - a nice record of how tastes have changed in 20 years. This is a fun and almost educational throwback palette, and while I don’t enjoy glittery fallout these days, I can still appreciate that they stayed true to what their shadows were like back in 1998.
