Friday Foodie Vlog! (More Carby than usual but also kinda healthy!)
It was a pretty chill day today… did some IG story posts on makeup in the morning, then headed to the office. The team went out for Japanese food as a pre-Xmas lunch celebration and I had really good Beef Sukiyaki as well as some mentai-mayo grilled squid and soft-shell crab.
Sushi Tei isn’t the most consistent in quality but the Holland Village branch has some amazing (and award-winning) chefs.
After lunch, I was introduced to Haakon, a Scandinavian superfood salad bar where they have an UH-AMAZING Acai sorbet. I’ve never had Acai flavored food before. Only as a skincare ingredient because it has a ton of antioxidants and phyto-nutrients.
I was shocked how nice it tasted considering how healthy it was. It has quite a delicate flavor that went very well with the cacao powder, cacao nibs, and fruit I order it with. (I had the Viking Protein flavor ,which is SO much less appetizing than it was.) This tasted like a slightly fruity, ultra-refreshing, dark chocolate parfait.
For dinner, I decided to steam up some Japanese sweet potatoes. My favorite starchy veg. This Japanese variety has a paper-thin skin that you can eat (LOTS of fiber and nutrients too) and fluffy yellow flesh that is not pulpy like most sweet potato breeds. If you roast it or let it caramelize a little, it has a sweet nutty taste that’s similar to roasted chestnuts.
Just make sure you buy the ones that are really from Japan, not just those grown in other countries. The quality and texture is completely different.
What have you guys been up to today???
