My girlfriend used to work at a used furniture store, which also sold ovens, microwaves, and pretty much any household item that was donated.

At this particular store, all the paid staff were women. Capable women, who lifted ovens and couches daily. Sexes of volunteers were mixed, but they never lifted anything (mainly performed menial tasks, and manned the cash).
