When I was a kid my mother was a real piece of work. Since age 7 I was coming home alone from school thinking it was because she was at work like my dad. But she was just out with her boyfriend or shopping. The occasional days when I would forget my key and it was raining were the worst – sitting on the steps trying to not get rained on.
