Forgive if my writing is confusing or gives a wrong tone, English isn’t my only language and my brain switches between all the ones I know quite suddenly in odd intervals. This story might also seem like a really shitty excuse for a malicious compliance, but it’s mostly because my storytelling isn’t the best; it’s hard for me to describe a lot. Some crucial details might be missing, but please note: I’m tired, and you’ll see why later on (or see Tl;dr).

I work in a grocery store with some real power-hungry managers, especially one, who we will call Phil, obviously not his real name. Phil’s been in the store for maybe a year now, and no one really likes him that much, not even the department managers. He’s very dull, monotonous and strict. To give an idea of how strict, he literally wrote me up once for calling off… to go see my doctor after a serious issue arose. He’s also heavily impatient, and does not realize that tasks aren’t always done instantly because of a little something called customer assistance.
